Developed in-house at DWS, Nauta is our parametric software. It prepares 3D print files, helping to devise support structures and decide the model’s positioning on the platform before sending the files to Fictor, the printer management software. Nauta+ includes functions to automatically optimise the number of supports, the orientation of the object to be printed, and full utilisation of the platform via instancing. Nauta+ allows manual adjustment of all settings, giving the user complete freedom to alter the model. Supports created by Nauta+ include a patented break point, making them easy to remove without any special tools. And our innovative patented lattice function makes it possible to create super-light support structures. The software also calculates the object’s weight and the expected resin consumption.
Nauta Photoshade is the special edition of our Nauta+ software developed specifically for the DFAB® device. It manages 3D print execution, creates the support structure from the imported file, and sets the colour and shading for the finished model. Its simplified user interface and printing wizard help to eliminate operator errors. The software is so easy to use that no experience in 3D printing is required.
Fictor is the management software for DWS 3D printers, developed by our in-house research and development team to help with launching 3D print jobs and controlling the entire process. Fictor is designed to unlock the full potential of DWS professional 3D printers. It gives users complete freedom to configure print parameters, to ensure the best possible production quality. For example, users can adjust layer thickness (slicing), contours, hatching, and many other parameters, to ensure the high-quality, high-resolution output characteristic of DWS 3D printers. For inexperienced users, DWS provides training courses and support to make the technology accessible to everyone. By contrast, Fictor for XFAB® uses pre-set parameters for each material, for a user-friendly experience that enables anyone to print in 3D, whatever their level of experience.
